TAPG X Ting Cho Chien X Plaza Premium Lounge

Ting Cho Chien, born in 1970 in Miri, Sarawak is a venerable contemporary artist awarded the "Cornucopia of Malaysia Arts" (Metropolitan Gallery of Fine Art) in 1996 and Pertandingan Karya Seni Kreatif Kebangsaan PNB in 1997. Ting has a proclivity for the batik materials as his subjects, often executing them in the medium of watercolor on paper. His iteration of batik relates to the everyday life of a Malaysian, using vibrant, eye-catching colors and common Malaysian motifs, beloved and shared by all. His paintings strive to bring delight, joy, and wonder, away from the highly competitive world and tap into the identity and proud memories of being a humble Malaysian.

Batik is an important representation of Malaysian culture and heritage, used by all races in the country. Ting has brilliantly captured and reflected the beauty of this fabric on canvas, each work portrayed with distinct robustness. He excels in creating a captivating composition of sarongs, sometimes on a clothesline, amidst a serene environment such as that of kampung.
